Leigh Shepherd - Garden Bird Study 18

Leigh's jewellery and mixed media collections are all inspired by her interest in upcycling. She loves finding vintage items that have outlived their original purpose and creating something new with them.

Leigh began making these bird egg pieces after she found a robin egg and abandoned nest in her garden. It was such a perfect tiny egg she became fascinated with the size and colour so began researching them.

The eggs in this piece Leigh created for our 18th Birthday celebrations are made from clay and are measured and painted to replicate real bird eggs. They are set in resin in a section of a typecase tray.
