Letitia lives in a small Lincolnshire village, surrounded by open fields and wide skies. Seventeen years of rural life have gently woven their way into her work, inspiring the imagery and storytelling that runs through her paintings, collages and stitched pieces. From rowdy starlings descending on the birdfeeder to the glamorous magpie swooping over yellow fields, the characters of nature playfully inhabit her art.

The name Mrs Bertimus was born from a neighbour’s tale of a cheeky blackbird who popped by daily for breakfast, and occasionally strolled right into the kitchen with his brood to share the crumbs. This spark of magic grew into Letitia’s own make-believe world of curious creatures and whimsical stories.

Creativity has always been a part of her life, she grew up in a vibrant, art-filled household in the 1970s, with a mum who painted to the soundtrack of Simon & Garfunkel and Bob Dylan. Today, alongside her own practice, Letitia has spent over two decades teaching in art education and now shares her love of mixed media and textiles through workshops.

For Letitia, art is about connection as much as creation. Through her blog and online community, she has found friendship, confidence, and joy, something she continues to pour into her work and hopes to share with others. Step into her imaginative “village,” where the wallpaper is always outrageous, the kettle is on, and even the blackbirds stop by for a custard cream.
