Last week I spent a lovely morning drinking coffee and catching up with Charlotte at The Stitch Society in their fabulous retail shop and workspace in the iconic Salts Mill. This building is the perfect place for her business; right in the heart of the textile industry’s heritage of West Yorkshire.
We have stocked garments by The Stitch Society for a few years now because we love the ethos behind this small company. All their garments are made in UK manufactured fabrics by this small but perfectly formed team from these premises. They recognise the need to create sustainable, durable workwear with minimal environmental impact. This has been their mission from the start and their commitment to this remains as strong today as it ever was.
Their garments are simple because form follows function, comfort is their priority. They test all their products on real people in real life and they’re stylish because if you look good, you feel good don’t you think? Durable because they hate waste.
Why buy an apron a year when you can buy one to last you 10 years or more? Buy Once, Buy Well. By investing in a piece form The Stitch Society range, you are investing in yourself, your work and your business.
The Stitch Society range has grown over the last few years and they now make sturdy work jackets, stylish coats and linen smocks – all with same attention to detail as their aprons and, of course, pockets!
Since opening their new studio in Salts Mill, Saltaire in Yorkshire in 2021 they now work with carefully chosen partners and are also able to manufacture for other small businesses, providing pattern development, sampling and production runs.
I was delighted to hear that they are now offering classes and workshops; including dressmaking, tailoring, leatherwork and felting and are hoping to expand their range of classes for 2022…I need to grab some ‘me’ time and sign up to one!
Find out more about these here.
After a few hours with Charlotte choosing the new collection for Heart Gallery it was time to leave … but I couldn’t resist a quick photo opportunity with Bob!
And look how great Charlotte looks in her Gardener apron in the Khaki cotton colourway? (Bob looks gorgeous too of course!)
Practical, stylish and smart whether pottering on the allotment, tending your flower beds or even double digging. And of course there’s a 10 Year Guarantee against wear and tear.
