Kate is a Yorkshire based surface pattern designer having a background in both ceramic and card design.
She completed an MA in ceramic design at Staffordshire University in 2007 and successfully launched her debut collection of ceramics in September 2014.
All of Kate’s ceramics are proudly made in Stoke-on-Trent in one of the only potteries that still manufacture creamware ceramics.
To reflect her passions for nature and ceramic heritage, Kate combines botanical illustrations with a classic blue and white colour scheme.
Created originally from sketches inspired from photographs taken, mood boards, nature, English gardens and illustrated guides, Kate’s elegant artwork is then combined digitially to create her unique style.
A lot of her inspiration comes from nature; patina on stonewalls, leaves and wild flowers. Kate loves to travel and explore and the undisturbed beauty of the Yorkshire Dales, Scottish Highlands and British Countryside are clearly an inspiration for her latest collection.
The Wild Garden Sketches collection is designed to be both decorative and functional with great accent pieces that can be mixed and matched to create an eclectic collection.
Individual designs are created for each and every product for a very special and cohesive collection.
The history of the ceramic industry is really important to Kate, she wanted to keep the tradition of this craft alive by producing things which are not only timeless and beautiful but of the highest quality.
Kate is proud to design and produce a British made collection and here at Heart Gallery we are delighted to showcase a good selection of Kate’s work for our Spring Exhibition Flora & Fauna.
Flora & Fauna launches Sunday 12th February at 12pm and runs until 30th April so do pop by and see Kate’s work next time you are in Hebden Bridge.
