Casey Allum is a self-taught artist and illustrator based in The Peak District, specialising in animal portraits.
She draws in pencils, inks, pastels & coloured pencils and paints in oils, acrylics & inks.
Casey was born at the heart of The Lake District in Langdale Valley and feels extremely privileged to have grown up in such a beautiful part of the world.
Her love of art was apparent right from the start; she was guaranteed to sit quietly when given a pencil & a piece of paper, spending hours perfecting her drawings of animals, people & the scenic surroundings.
After a few years of exploring the UK, working within prestige sales and management, Casey found herself drawn back to The Lake District where she worked for the Wilson family at Yew Tree Barn.
It was after five years of managing their art gallery and shop that she decided to make the leap and become a full time artist… it was always in there in her heart and something she could no longer ignore.
Her passion is in the finer details, construction, form & texture, being able to perfectly describe a subject with a pencil line.
Her range of animal portraits draw attention to the negative space & light surrounding the subjects, which is so often discarded; this space is extremely important to help the subject breathe and it ultimately draws your eye to the detail in the portrait, rather than the overall sometimes complicated, composition.
Casey now resides in The Peak District with her little family and two dogs spending a lot of time outside surrounded by wildlife for inspiration and then working from her lovely home studio building her portfolio and working on commissions.
We are delighted to now be one of Casey’s recognised stockists for her originals and limited edition prints.
We also sell a good selection of Casey’s fine bone china pieces, art cards and wrapping paper which all compliment her larger prints perfectly.
