Julie Coghlan qualified as a Surface Pattern Designer in 1979 and has worked in the Art and Design industry ever since.
In 2008 Julie graduated with a First Class BA Hons in Contemporary Applied Arts as a textile designer. Since graduating Julie has established a successful business in Caldbeck in the English Lake District, recently awarded UNESCO heritage status.
Hesta Scene (Have You Seen?) in Cumbrian dialect acts as her working studio, as well as being a Gift Shop and Gallery.
Birds have played a big part in her upbringing but only in recent times she fully appreciated their beauty and variety. The beautiful colours and patterns on the green woodpecker provided her with the inspiration to design a collection of knitted fashion accessories created from lambswool. Other garden birds such as the chaffinch, kingfisher and greenfinch provided further inspiration for the AW 19/20 collection.
We are delighted to welcome Julie to Heart Gallery for the first time for our CHRISTMAS AT HEART Exhibition. Our customers love that her knitwear is inspired by British birds and her scarves, snoods and wristlets are proving popular … especially now that it has got a little chillier!
