Jessica Langford is a contemporary Applied Artist who has a passion for bold wearable art, illustration and glass.
Jessica loves tactile pieces that make someone just want to pick it up and feel it and would like to create this feeling about her own work.
She has worked in materials such as sterling silver, glass, perspex, leather and threads to create pieces which are not necessarily obviously linked to a theme but have a strong creative journey.
Jessica’s new jewellery collection is entitled, ‘Rock’.
‘Rock’ is a word used to describe a mineral material but also used to describe someone you rely on.
She has taken this idea and thought about sedimentary rocks and their layers relating to the strong generations in her family and how each person is important in the structure of a family.
Jessica chose to visit Staithes to inform her visual research for this collection, collecting images which later developed into each jewellery piece. Her reason for Staithes … her grandparents met there in 1948.
Jessica describes her grandparents as the cornerstone or ‘rock’ to her family.
Her pieces are wearable art rather than jewellery, decorative art adorning the body.
We are delighted to be showcasing a small collection of Jessica’s Rock collection Summer 2018. Follow Jessica on Instagram.
