Olive Pearson is a designer-maker specialising in luxurious, knitted accessories.
Combining traditional techniques with contemporary design, she creates slow-fashion pieces with beautiful colour combinations.
Fascinated by spirograph as a child she has continued to explore repetition and applies that to her signature, small-scale, geometric patterns that play with perceptions.
She finds inspiration for her designs all around – in everyday objects from manhole covers to zips and in nature from ripples in the sand to waves.
Hand-framing on a vintage, manual machine in her Glasgow studio enables Olive to provide a bespoke service for her unique designs, providing clients with contemporary heirloom pieces made to last.
All are created with natural, fibres including cashmere, merino lamb’s wool, cotton and silk. Olive Pearson Designs officially launched in June 2015, focusing on slow-fashion, ethical and sustainable products with zero-waste.
We absolutely love Olive’s ‘simple’, colourful repeat geometric patterns that play with perceptions, mixing contemporary colours and patterns with traditional knitting techniques. Left over yarns are used to attach her labels, showing the weight, colour and quality of yarns used to make the fabric. Recycling is important and Olive buys small quantities of different yarns from graduating students and uses remnants of yarns and fabrics to create new products.
Call in to see her ethical collection for our CHRISTMAS AT HEART exhibition.
