British jeweller Kate Bajic has over 14 years experience exhibiting and selling her work in galleries and at exhibitions throughout the UK, Europe and the USA.
She lives and works in a rural village in the Midlands. Kate uses the countryside around her as inspiration for her beautiful contemporary jewellery.
Inspiration comes in particular from studying the varied colour, shapes and forms found in lichen. Through photography, sample collection and drawing, Kate examines their minute complexity and translates aspects of this into her work.
Pieces are hand crafted using precious metals or mild steel often combined with semi precious stones. Designs evolve through experimenting with composition, playing with contrasting colours, or by adding textural details such as hand stamped surface finishes and tiny elements of gold. You can also commission work in 18ct or 22ct gold.
Designs evolve through experimenting with layering, composition and playing with contrasting colours and forms. Her pieces are designed to offer a tribute to the beauty and preciousness of the exquisite and diverse natural forms that inspired it.
Kate is always keen to collaborate as she appreciates the positive effects this can have on her own skill set and practice. She also recognises the opportunity collaboration offers to network and increase contacts within the Craft sector.
Kate creates handmade, bespoke jewellery inspired by natural forms and structures, translated into contemporary wearable pieces of art. We are delighted to have a stunning collection from her for our Spring Show, MERAKI. Follow Kate on Instagram.
